Is it safe to bury your air conditioner lines and electrical in cement
l moved my condenser unit around the corner of my house, and ran the
refrigerant (with rubber insulation), electrical, and other associated a/c
lines along the ground against the foundation. In a week, a company is
coming to pour concrete and put p-gravel there, so it will all end up
buried in concrete. Is it safe to have all this stuff running through
concrete? The #8 AWG wire is running with the rest of it, but its all wire
tied together.
whether it is safe or not you can not then fix those wires if
something goes wrong and you need to. I would never have anything put
into cement.
Under no circumstances, should the copper lineset for the a/c
come in contact with anything except plastic, rubber, other copper, or
brass. Other materials, especially masonry, will RAPIDLY expedite the
corrosion process of the copper. The lineset needs to be ran in what we
call a ''soil pipe which is nothing more than a 4'' pvc pipe, with a
45-degree elbow at each end, where you turn into, & back out of the ground
(or in ur case, the slab). Also, the high-voltage wiring needs to be ran in a non-metallic conduit.
Re-route the wire in PVC conduit trying to minimize the use of
elbows then it is not a problem for future wiring options
no it is not. Like all electric appliances, they'd generate
heat and keeping them buried under cement will not allow them to breath.
This means they are more likely to burn out the fuse, or cause sparks.
